The Queensland Coroner is responsible for conducting investigations and inquests into reportable deaths that occur in Queensland. The Coroners Court is established to hold inquests in relation to deaths which might require a closer look at the relevant facts.
We regularly act for any relevant parties who may have an interest in a Coronial investigation or inquest. Notably, we acted on behalf of the Morcombe family in relation to the inquest into the then suspected death of Daniel Morcombe which ultimately led to the arrest and conviction of Daniel’s killer.
While inquests can often be emotional or uncomfortable experiences for the parties involved, they can assist in finding answers to unsolved questions and ensuring that tragic events are not repeated.
