History - Nambour Lawyers
Commencing in 1913 as McCowan & Lightoller there have been a succession of partners since including Virgil Power and the Arthur Fittock. By 1936 R.D. Charleton moved the firm to Whalley Chambers in Currie Street, Nambour.
Progressing to R.D. Charleton & Rowlands, then in 1947 to R.D. Charleton & Blackman and in 1954 to R.D Charleton, Blackman & Butler with the introduction of John Butler as a partner.
In 1964 the firm changed its name to Blackman & Butler with the introduction of Stafford McDermott as a partner and in 1968 became Blackman, Butler & McDermott.
A further name change in 1972 to Butler, McDermott & Egan upon the introduction of Terry Egan as a partner. The firm moved from Currie Street to 66 Howard Street in 1974.
Peter Boyce commenced as a partner in 1977 and Alan Clark in 1981. Upon the retirement of John Butler in 1988, Geoff Brown commenced as a partner. In 1997 both Stafford McDermott and Geoff Brown retired from the partnership with both remaining consultants with the firm, Stafford until 1998 when Terry Egan also retired from the partnership and Geoff until 2006.
Simone Pearce commenced as partner in 1999 and Geoff Barr in 2005. In 2008 the firm moved to new premises situated at 6-8 William Street, Nambour.
In 2010 Alan Clark retired from the partnership replaced by Adam Barrell. Alan has remained as a consultant to the firm.
The present partners are Peter Boyce, and Simone Pearce.
